Martial Arts Weapons Training :

Weapons training is training practices aimed to improve an individual proficiency and efficiency in using a particular weapon or a weaponry system. Practicing with a training weapon can help a martial artist focus and develop his or her skills. Common training weapons include nunchaku, samurai swords, staffs and bows, knives, batons, tonfas, sai, kamas, and ninja throwing stars. Traditional Japanese and Chinese weapons such as Samurai Sword, Sai, Nunchaku, Long and Short Sticks, Tonfas, Throwing Knives, Bayoneted Rifles, and the like are taught and practiced in our Knockout Martial Arts Training.

Martial arts weapons can expand our training, challenge our skills, and capture the attention of any spectator with a pulse. For many of us, our love for the martial arts started with a pair of nunchucks!

A weapon is a force multiplier. It lets you do more damage to your opponent, with less effort and exertion, in a shorter period of time, while exposing you to less danger of damage yourself. Having trained with weapons can help you in a self-defense situation. This is particularly true if you have trained in weapons that can be simulated by everyday objects, and thus close at hand.

Legal issues, however, have arisen with some of these weapons due to licensing and the lethal nature of the weapons. Therefore, weapon fighting is taught only to select students and is practiced under strict guidance and supervision. If you are interested in learning weapon fighting, please consult the Martial arts Instructor at our Knockout training centers.

Nunchaku, or Nunchuk :

The nunchaku is most widely used in martial arts such as Okinawan kobudō and karate. Its intended use is as a training weapon since it allows the development of quicker hand movements and improves posture. Members are also trained in the art of the Nunchaku, or Nunchuk for short. This training helps develop hand-eye coordination along with an 'I Can Do It!' attitude. Students learn the history of the weapon while also learning fun and exciting techniques. Members receive specialized training once in a week outside their regular martial arts class.
